Use the right identifier
Apple’s model list connects a model name to a Model Identifier such as MacBookAir10,1 or Mac14,2. That is different from a unique serial number. The site’s lookup uses a small set of exact model-family identifiers and does not request, upload or transmit a device serial. The purchasing task does not require this website to identify an individual machine.
Keep the family name attached
MacBookAir10,1 is listed for MacBook Air M1, 2020. Mac14,2 is listed for MacBook Air M2, 2022. Those source relationships help interpret the selected GhostCover variant names. They are not physical measurements of the key wells, and the website has not inspected the actual machine or cover. The result remains a documented family reference.
Do not confuse an order number
A retailer order number, a cover SKU, a laptop part number and a model identifier serve different purposes. A cover variant’s numeric Shopify ID does not identify the computer. Likewise, a machine identifier cannot substitute for the selected US/Clear cover option. Save the fields with their labels rather than merging all numbers into a single model box.
Handle an unknown identifier
If an entered identifier is not one of the verified references, the tool returns unknown. It does not correct a similar-looking string to the nearest model, assume an unlisted generation shares the mold or declare a tested non-fit. The user can consult Apple’s model page and the actual seller’s current compatibility list privately.
Check the physical layout
The same model family does not establish the regional key shape. The lookup also asks for a layout state. An unknown, ISO or other layout does not receive a US-layout match from the selected records. This protects against turning an accurate device identifier into an overbroad physical compatibility conclusion.
Keep the final limitation
A documented family/layout reference is a purchasing aid, not Apple endorsement, a fitting trial or permission to close the display with the cover installed. No serial-based service, device enrollment or remote inspection is performed. Independent current-label and compatibility review remain pending, and the official removal instruction stays visible beside the result.
Do not paste an asset register
A business inventory can contain unique serials, user names and internal asset tags. None is needed for this limited lookup. Use only the non-unique model-family identifier and actual layout privately. The field is local temporary state and has no upload or external submission. If an unfamiliar string is entered, the tool does not attempt a remote device lookup or reinterpret it as a serial. It returns an unknown reference state. This keeps a useful buying function narrow and avoids making an identity-collection step appear necessary for choosing a keyboard accessory.
Sources & scope
Checked November 4, 2026. Manufacturer and retailer references support the specific statements. Dated displayed prices are not final checkout quotes, performance rankings or performance testing. This shopping reference does not replace the exact product label or qualified individual advice. Exact current compatibility and independent content/commerce review remain pending.
